 Solar Energy - An Investment that Pays
Ontario’s Green Energy Act offers the people of Ontario a unique opportunity: selling solar electricity! The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) will buy electricity produced from FIT (10-100kW) Solar Systems on your roof at a rate of 54.8¢ per kilowatt-hour, or larger FIT Systems (100-500kW) at a rate of 53.9¢ per kilowatt-hour. The result is a steady income stream for the next 20 years, which helps phase out dirty coal by replacing it with clean solar energy.

Solar Design
 The initial step is to assess your farm, determine the optimum solar system for you, and predict the performance and revenue generation potential. We can do this with photographs, Google Earth and perhaps a site visit. If you decide to proceed, we’ll survey your buildings, perform a structural assessment, and recommend roof reinforcement if necessary. Our team will and do the mechanical and electrical designs and plan your installation. With our 25 years of experience with solar systems, our expertise is strong and professional. |
Equipment Choice

Project Management
From start to finish, HES can manage your complete project. We’ll handle the application process, both to the OPA and your LDC. We’ll design all aspects of your system, from structural to electrical using our team of Professional Engineers. From installation to commissioning, we’ll work with your LDC to approve connection methods, and the ESA to ensure everything is installed to CEC approve all parts of the installation. Finally we’ll work with the OPA to provide all documents to complete your project, and get revenue flowing. We’ll ensure you will be authorized to connect by your local LDC, and your system will meet local building and provincial electrical codes. |
Installation
Once your FIT system is approved by the OPA and your LDC, we’ll bring our team of professionals to install it. Our work is fully guaranteed. We’ll have a Master Electrician on site at all times, full safety equipment and WSIB coverage. Our roof penetrations are secure and won’t leak. Our mounting systems put fewer holes in the roof, and are the strongest in the industry. Our solar arrays are meticulously installed, and you will be proud to show them off. Our wiring is in corrosion proof conduit, oversized to minimize line losses and fully inspected. |
Farm Specialists
Farms have plenty of roof space, and plenty of challenges as well. Solar systems add weight to roofs and you need to know your system is secured properly. Our structural team handles that. Many rural areas have single phase power, and some have 3-phase connections. We can design around that. Sometimes systems are split amongst many buildings, and not all roofs face the same way. We design systems to optimize your revenue, and have solutions for multiple buildings. |
Financing
If your bank financing does not recognize the extra income from a solar system as part of your finance package, ours does. We can introduce Lease-To-Own options that allow you to pay for the system over 5, 10 or 15 years. Typically, a solar system payment schedule over 10 years yields positive cash flow for you right from the start. |
